Frequently asked questions
Ona records the conversation, with everyone's consent, from your phone, the web app, or the Ona RecordPen. It transcribes the audio, then writes a summary sized to the meeting: a short check-in gets a few lines, a long workshop gets sections, decisions, and action items. Everything becomes searchable memory you can ask about later.
No. Ona works from the recording alone, so there is nothing to set up. Connecting tools is optional and gives Ona more to work with: link your calendar to prepare briefs before meetings, or connect Notion, Slack, Asana, or Linear to send notes and action items where your team already works.
Ona currently connects to Google Calendar, Outlook Calendar, Notion, Slack, Asana, Linear, and Google Drive, with more on the way.
Integrations are optional. Ona works for every meeting without them, but connecting your tools lets you export a summary to Notion, post it to Slack, or turn action items into Asana tasks or Linear issues in one tap. You can manage them under Settings, then Integrations.
A general chatbot starts every conversation from zero, so you have to paste in context and explain the backstory. Ona already has it: the meetings, the decisions, the people, and what you told them last week. Answers are grounded in what was actually said, with a link back to the moment in the transcript.
Yes. Audio is deleted once it is transcribed. Transcripts and notes are encrypted in transit and at rest, and access is tied to your account alone. Our security program follows SOC 2 practices, with an independent audit in progress, and Ona is designed to meet GDPR and CCPA requirements.
You can delete any meeting, any range of time, or your entire account at any moment.
Ona stores your transcripts and notes in the cloud on encrypted infrastructure hosted in the United States, so your memory follows you across devices. Audio is deleted once it is transcribed and never stays on our servers longer than 24 hours.
No. We do not use your recordings, transcripts, or notes to train our models, and we will never sell your data to advertisers or anyone else. Our customers are our users, not advertisers.
Free covers 300 minutes of meetings a month, with a summary, decisions and to-dos for each one, two Ask Ona questions a day and two playbooks. Pro is $14.99 a month: unlimited transcription and Ask Ona, notes written automatically after every recording, every playbook, and Tasks.
Pro starts with a 7-day free trial, once per person. Cancel at any time and your account moves back to Free; every meeting you recorded stays, with no time limit.
No. Ona for Mac records your microphone and the call's own audio straight from the computer, so nothing joins the meeting and nobody on the call sees a bot. It runs on macOS 14.4 or later, on Apple silicon and Intel. In any browser, the web app records from your microphone.
Yes. Upload an audio file of up to 500 MB on either plan and Ona treats it like any other meeting: a transcript, a summary, and a place in your memory that Ask Ona can draw on.
Playbooks are ready-made prompts you run with a slash in Ask Ona: a TL;DR, to-dos by owner, a weekly recap, a follow-up email. There are 28 to start with, and you can write your own and share it with a link. Free includes two; Pro has them all.
Tasks are recurring work on a schedule you set, such as a prep note every morning or a recap every Friday. Ona runs each one on time and has the result waiting in the app. Tasks are part of Pro.
The Ona Band is a wearable for the conversations that happen away from a screen: a walk-and-talk, a meeting in a room, a coffee. Everything it records, with everyone's consent, lands in the same account as your Mac and browser meetings. It comes in Midnight Black and Sierra Blue.
You can pre-order it now at the pre-launch price, and it ships early 2027. Cancel any time before your order ships.
Stop taking notes. Start being there.
Talk the way you always do. Ona hands back the summary, the tasks and the reminders, already written.
